WG4: Transplantation, Inflammation and Immunity

Transplantation, Inflammation and Immunity: evaluation of new/emerging transplantation techniques for AAK, dry eye disease, surgical outcomes, fibrosis, immune response, inflammation, and corneal neovascularization in aniridia-associated keratopathy.

Tasks:

  • Analyse current best practices and success/failures of surgery in aniridia-associated keratopathy.
  • Review best practices and evidence for keratoprosthesis use in aniridia.
  • Identify treatment opportunities for improving the ocular surface prior to transplantation.
  • Identify possible immune modulation approaches.

Deliverables:

  • Manuscript describing success/failures of surgical treatments for aniridia-associated keratopathy across centres.
  • Manuscript describing keratoprosthesis use and outcomes in aniridia, with special reference to intraocular pressure measurement.
  • Consensus statement of new approaches to improve the ocular surface condition based on preclinical/clinical results.
